Have an idea? Apply to the student exhibition program!  Proposals are welcomed by student artists and curators. We would also like to hear from faculty interested in class projects that use the art lounge and adjacent spaces.

We actively encourage proposals of two-dimensional work of all kinds: photography, printmaking, drawing, painting, illustration as well as film, video, computer-based work, or audio projects.  We are particularly interested in curatorial proposals that fit the criteria listed below and/or thematically related work.

How does UTAC decide which exhibitions to host?

Exhibitions must:

  1. be comprised primarily of work by students at the University of Toronto
  2. meet a perceived level of artistic and/or curatorial  merit
  3. fall within UTAC’s ability to install and care for appropriately
  4. not conflict with other events scheduled in the art lounge

Please note:

UTAC does not install work without seeing it in advance.

UTAC may give preference to exhibition proposals thematically related to UTAC main gallery exhibitions, events and activities.

Exhibitions must also meet the following criteria for community events:

  1. the event is proposed by a person or group affiliated with the University of Toronto
  2. the event promotes the arts
  3. the event encourages student activity and enriches student  experience
  4. the event will bring students to UTAC
  5. the event supports existing UTAC aims and priorities
  6. the event supports projects or activities undertaken by other U of T divisions or units
  7. the event does not impede or interfere with existing UTAC projectsTo
